Saint Lucia can't claim to have an excess of icons; but she lost one this weekend. A keystone of the local political scene, George Odlum was one of those few who never fail to illicit a visceral response. Statesman, radical, visionary, anarchist; he remained illusive to the end.

Poll: Clark moves to the front in New York

"In a reflection of Clark's political strength -- and Bush's drop -- the race's newcomer outpaced the president 48 percent to 41 percent.
